European endurance title goes to UAE rider

Mubarak Khalifa Al Shafya and Zakah Zahara of the United Arab Emirates has won the Individual event at the European Endurance Championships, at Barroco D'Alva in Portugal on Saturday.
Al Shafya finished with an average speed of 19.115kph. In second place was French rider Jean Phillippe Frances on Hanaba du Bois, with Spain's Jaume Punti Dachs third, riding Elvis AHB.
There were 88 starters from 20 countries, but just 36 completed.
The British Endurance Riding Team of Sally Hall riding Sire deBozouls, Fiona Hamilton riding Sharifah, Nicky Sherry riding Shimmering Blue Jasmine, and Chris Yeoman riding Farouk De Lozelle, put in a terrific performance riding competitively from the start, gradually moving up the field throughout the day to finish 6th in the team event and 5th in the Open Championship. Fiona finished in 20th place, Chris in 23rd. place and Nicky 34th. Susan Hawes riding Jade Rani (18th) and Jayme Bone riding Krayaan Jesra rode as individuals.
